Shop guide
Choose billing for the way your shop works.
A practical checklist to take to a product demo.
The useful question is not which tool has the longest feature list. It is whether you can make a bill, find the saved record and explain what changed afterwards. Take a short list of your everyday tasks to a demo before choosing.
Start with a small, realistic sale
Use a sample item and a quantity you recognise. Ask the demonstrator to change the quantity, review the total, record an amount received and save the bill. Then leave that screen and find the receipt again. A good demonstration should make it clear which step creates the saved sale.
Do not use real customer details or make a real payment just to evaluate software. Ask for a safe demonstration account.
If customers buy on udhar, follow the balance
Ask where the unpaid amount goes, how it is linked to a customer and who can see it. Then ask how a repayment is recorded after money is received. Check whether the original receipt changes or keeps the amounts from the sale. A balance screen and a payment-processing service are different things.
See Tharasu AI’s bill-linked udhar explanation, including its original-receipt versus current-balance distinction.
Ask what “stock” includes
A product list does not tell you whether quantities are counted. Ask how an opening quantity is entered, what happens when goods arrive and when a sale deducts stock. If you need purchase costs, supplier accounts, expiry tracking or multiple locations, ask about each separately. The word inventory alone does not establish those capabilities.
Understand recorded stock versus a physical count before judging a stock screen.
Try the equipment and access you actually need
- Open the tool on the phone, browser or computer you intend to use. Ask which versions are supported.
- Ask what can be done when the connection drops, and how you know a save was confirmed. Do not assume every screen works offline.
- If a printer or scanner matters, ask for a demonstration with that exact type of equipment.
- Check what an owner, manager and helper can see and change. Shared passwords are not a substitute for suitable roles.
Get the offer and exit options in writing
Confirm the current price, taxes, billing period, limits, support channels and any trial terms. Ask how existing records can be brought in and how you can retrieve records later. A feature shown in a demo is not a promise about every plan or release.
A short demo checklist
- Make a bill and retrieve the saved receipt.
- Follow a customer due and a recorded repayment, if relevant.
- Receive one item and inspect what a confirmed sale changes.
- Check roles, actual devices and connection requirements.
- Confirm the current offer, setup, support and data options.
Write down what was demonstrated, what was only described and what still needs confirmation. Choose around those answers rather than an unsupported speed, earnings or accuracy promise.
Editorial sources and scope
This is a general evaluation checklist, not a ranking or a statement that Tharasu AI supports every item above. A current vendor example of this evaluation format is Dukanam’s small-shop billing guide; vendor-specific claims are not adopted here.
Ask about your shop’s workflow.
Bring your questions to a manual demo. Confirm current access, devices, pricing and support directly with the team.
